Working out does not come naturally to me. Do you know anyone who says that working out is fun? They work out every day and they feel like they cannot function without working out. Well, that is not me! Working out is not my favorite thing to do, however, afterward I feel great. It is so hard to get going! That is why it is really important to find different strategies to drive you into living a healthier lifestyle.
One of my motivators for working out is my dog Beauty! My husband and I adopted her from PAWS about two months ago and she has brought so much joy in our lives. First, let me tell you that I am not a dog person. When we first adopted her I had anxiety for about two days about our decision. However each day I am falling in love with this caring and protective dog. She encourages me to take in the fresh air and workout every single day.
She gets so excited when it’s time to go outside. I take her on a walk in the neighborhood or we go on a jog. She loves to be outside and since I have to take her out to use the bathroom, we end up taking a walk. At first, I started to go on the walks in my jeans and a t-shirt and come back dripping in sweat. This is when I realized that this dog is getting me outside and I am actually working out! I started taking her out in workout clothes and getting a good routine going.
Not only has Beauty gotten me outside and active but we have also been meeting other neighbors and dogs in the neighborhood. I never knew there were so many dogs that live in our complex. It is so funny how many were willing to talk to me more because I got a dog!
Now I am working out daily by taking her on walks. I started work again and I want to continue a schedule workout routine. I am trying to get back to the gym twice a week and walk Beauty 3 days a week in the neighborhood.
Thank you Beauty for bringing so much joy in my life and helping me to become a more healthier me!
