Blogging has been such a journey for me. When I first thought about blogging I was scared. Starting anything can be scary but I did not know the “blogging world”. I did not want to start a blog by myself and the feeling of the unknown really stopped me from starting years ago. Eleanor Rosevelt quotes fear in such a great way. She says:
“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror, I can take the next thing that comes along.’
Thinking about this quote made me realize that fear prolonged what I really wanted to do in some way. I did not have the confidence to start a blog by myself and that lack of confidence was fear getting in my way.
When I first started blogging, I did not do my research. I thought blogging would be simple. All I had to do was buy an already created website and start writing. I called up four of my friends and said: “let’s do a blog together and we can each take turns writing”. I am glad that fell through because blogging is more than just a phone call. It takes dedication, commitment, and consistency which is really hard when you have to balance a fulltime job and family. Although blogging did not begin with those four friends, I did not stop thinking about it. I listened to a free webinar that I ran into on the internet one day and it inspired me to try it! I made tons of mistakes and even loss some money but I learned that making mistakes is part of the process. Today I have gained the confidence to venture out into the blogging world, build my audience and do it by myself.
So why do I do it?
I blog because it made me realize that I can do anything I put my mind to. I am a dedicated person and when I fail, I keep on trying until I succeed. Blogging has become a world outside my own. I love blogging because it allows me to express myself and connect with people! I am still in the growing process, but this isn’t a job for me, this is a passion, hobby, and lifestyle that I truly enjoy. I know this post is longer than my usual post but I hope this inspires you to try blogging if you are reluctant and don’t let fear stand in your way.
Peace and love
